Manchester United should concentrate on landing their ‘dream’ centre-back, Real Madrid star Raphael Varane this summer transfer window, according to Wes Brown.
Los Blancos rejected an approach from the Red Devils for Varane last year even though the club were willing to pay £100 million for the France international star.
Jose Mourinho always coveted his one-time player at Manchester United, but the club have now turned their focus to Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Red Devils saw two bids in the January transfer market for Koulibaly rejected, but are expected to rekindle their interest in the 27-year-old this summer.
But as the Red Devils prepare another bid for Koulibaly, Brown has urged his one-time side to go all out for Varane.
‘The dream defender for United would be Rafael Varane. He would cost a lot and it would need to be the right fit for United.’ Wes told your-promotional-code.co.uk.
‘It’s difficult to say as United have a lot of defenders to choose from, and Solskjaer will want players to justify their positions on the pitch. The man to partner Koulibaly or Varane at United is likely to be Swedish star Victor Lindelof.’
After a difficult start to life in at Manchester-based giants, the 24-year-old star is in the best form of his time and has emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No.1 centre-back.
