Jose Mourinho wants two big signings, they’ll pay up to £222m

The Portuguese coach already sees at areas he wants to increase at the end of the season with the Premier League title before out of reach as rivals Manchester City take a 13-point lead.

As per Spanish publication Don Balon, Jose Mourinho thinks the arrival of Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe will make his side intact.

Mourinho is a long-time fan of centre-back Varane having hired him from Lens back in 2012 when he was at Madrid.

The former Chelsea coach’s chief advantage though is to sign Mbappe.

The Frenchman is currently on a season-long loan with PSG from Monaco with the French giants expected to make his move permanent in the summer.

The 19-year-old has managed eight goals and eight assists for the Ligue 1 leaders this season and interest in him next summer will be rife.

Mbappe has before been linked with a transfer to Madrid and the Premier League and Mourinho are confident he can strike a deal in the summer.

But Don Balon claim United bosses have suggested Mourinho they are only willing to pay up to €250m (£222m) for his signature.

That would make him the world’s most expensive player ever but at 19 years of age his transfer fee could be even more.

His PSG team-mate Neymar currently holds the history for the highest transfer price after PSG paid £198m last summer.

United bosses gave Mourinho with the £89m signing of Paul Pogba during his first summer in charge but with the price of players improving, they will need to fork out more than ever if they want to pay the 54-year-old’s demands.
