Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in signing Maxi Gomez, according to Calciomercato, via Sport Witness.
The 23-year-old has impressed for Valencia this season, scoring five goals in 14 appearances.
Gomez made the move to the Liga side from Celta Vigo in the summer, having been loosely linked with Liverpool.
The Reds are still keeping a eye on him, however, according to these latest reports.
Both Liverpool and United are interested, although Gomez’s €140 million release clause could be a stumbling block.
His contract with Valencia runs until 2024.
Gomez is a big talent who would be a shrewd addition by Liverpool, but a move seems unlikely.
The Reds would surely not be willing to trigger such a mammoth release clause – there are doubts over whether he justifies that sort of price tag, too.
The Uruguay international could be someone to look at further down the line, but for now, it would be a surprise if Liverpool’s interest was strong.
