The Merseyside club could reportedly consider a transfer swoop for RB Salzburg defender Maximilian Wober as part of their hunt for a new centre-back. This is according to a report, which also link the likes of David Carmo and Sven Botman as footballers emerging as options for the German manager this January.
The loss of Virgil van Dijk to a lengthy injury has been a big blow for Reds, who could surely do with bolstering their options at the defence as soon as possible.
Along with Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have had their fitness issues this campaign, with Brazil international Fabinho having to play most of his matches in central defence so far this term.
Wober seems like he could be a useful signing for the Reds in the second half of this season, with Liverpool surely needing more depth in back-line if they are to retain their PL trophy.
RB Salzburg tend to produce a lot of fine young footballers, and Wober seems to be the latest impressive prospect coming through for the Austrian club. The Austrian defender can also operate as a left-back if needed, so could generally be a useful squad footballer for the Reds for years to come.
