According to a report from a daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Star, Premier League side Liverpool were keen on landing Brazilian playmaker Alex Teixeira from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Reds had the 28-year-old star on their shop list after German coach Jurgen Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool but failed with a £24.5m bid in 2016.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder subsequently snubbed a move to the English top flight and completed a mega money £38m to Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Suning.
Alex was one of the big stars at Ukrainian club and helped his club stamp their mark over rivals Dynamo Kyiv in the league, winning the domestic trophy five times over the course of the star’s illustrious career in the top flight.
The Brazilian star amassed a mammoth 25 assists and 89 goals from 223 matches across all competitions for Shakhtar, making the star one of the most distinguished players in Ukraine.
The 28-year-old versatile attacker has hit the ground running in the Chinese Super League as well, netting 45 goals and registering 27 assists from 102 matches across all competitions.
