Liverpool look to have been received a significant boost in their reported pursuit of Barcelona central defender Samuel Umtiti, according to reports in Spain.
Don Balon recently connected Liverpool as among the supporters of the unsettled France international, who is yet to sign the contract extension and has a release (buy-out) clause believed to be around €60million.
Umtiti has shone at Blaugrana and could certainly prove a crucial upgrade on someone like Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, and it looks like Umtiti is now looking increasingly possible to make the transfer away from the Nou Camp.
An updated article from Don Balon also suggests Samuel is now all the more open to a move as a result of his side’s humiliating exit from the Champions League at the hands of AS Roma on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old is evidently not the only Spanish giants player considering his future, with the article also mentioning Andres Iniesta as feeling his era at the club is now up.
Liverpool supporters must be hoping the club is keeping tabs on the centre-back’s situation, as he would make better the quality of a squad that had already enjoyed successes this season.
