Liverpool scouts were in attendance during Egypt’s encounter with Guinea in Cairo. The Reds were keeping tabs on the progress of Saidou Sow, who is starting to garner some attention during the international break after a disappointing end to the 2021/22 season.
A member of the Saint-Etienne academy since 2016, Sow had been on the fringes of the first team for a couple of years now. Guinea international is mainly considered as a young footballer with potential, but he has never been able to make a proper breakthrough and establish himself as a first-team regular for the Greens.
Sow was barely used by Pascal Dupraz during the second half of the 2021/22 season. But with the campaign coming to an end, Saidou is using the international break to gain some much-needed playing time with the Guinean national team.
A teammate of Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita in the Guinean team, the 20-year-old defender’s fantastic displays on the international stage have put the Reds on red alert. The Guinean centre-back has managed to impress the Reds scouts, and a summer move to England could be in the offing.
Standing at 1.85m, Saidou has an imposing frame that gives him a considerable advantage in physical and aerial duels. He is athletic enough to thrive in the PL as well, and despite his lack of action at Saint-Etienne, the African centre-back certainly has what it takes to make a name for himself at the highest level of football.
