Liverpool are showing interest in Valencia star Carlos Soler, along with Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Spain international was reported to be closing in on the move to Barcelona, with the midfielder had agreed on personal terms with the Blaugrana.
The Barcelona reports were soon dismissed by Valencia, who released an official statement stating there is no ‘ongoing negotiation’ with the Catalan giants over a potential move for Carlos. They added that they are in discussions with Soler’s entourage over a deal extension with the attacker’s current contract expiring next year.
The Blaugrana are said to retain their interest in the 25-year-old midfielder, with their sporting director Mateu Alemany especially pushing for his signature. Alemany was previously at Valencia and is thus well aware of the Spanish midfielder’s potential.
While the Blaugrana continue to be linked with the Spaniard, other teams have also started showing interest. Liverpool are among the interested sides, with Atletico Madrid and Juventus also monitoring his situation. Carlos is reportedly eager on a move as he is said to be ‘upset’ with coach Jose Bordalas.
Soler has a €50m release clause in his deal with the La Liga giants but could be available for €40m this summer. Carlos has been in fine form this campaign, scoring 12 and assisting five goals from the midfield across all tournaments. The Valencia youth product has played 219 games for the club, scoring 35 goals and assisting 31 in the process.
