Liverpool in bidding war for €65m-rated France international

Paris Saint-Germain have allegedly moved ahead of multiple top European sides, including Liverpool, in the race to land RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku.

The 24-year-old star is enjoying a prolific 2021-22 term in front of goal for the German club, scoring 27 goals and grabbing 17 assists in 40 matches across all competitions.

The Reds, Real Madrid and Manchester United are all believed to be keen on signing the star, who could be available for around €75 million (£63 million).

However, Foot Mercato states that Les Parisiens are determined to snap up the Frenchman this summer and they have begun talks with the player’s representatives over a possible transfer.

The report adds that the owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has pinpointed him as a priority target, particularly if either Neymar or Kylian Mbappe leave Le Parc de Princes in the summer.

Furthermore, Die Roten Bullen are keen on retaining his services and they are ready to offer him a lucrative new contract, with his present deal expiring in the summer of 2024.

Christopher, who came through the Ligue 1 giants’ academy before signing for the German side in 2019, has also drawn interest from Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
