Leeds United have allegedly ruled out the winter sale of Raphinha and plan to hold discussions with the winger over a new deal, despite interest from a number of Europe’s elite clubs.
The 25-year-old star has been a standout performer in the Argentine tactician Marcelo Bielsa’s struggling Whites side this term, scoring eight goals in 17 Premier League matches.
Jurgen Klopp’s side and perennial Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich are two teams who have been strongly linked with the Brazilian, while Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have also been touted with an interest.
However, The Mirror states that Leeds United are keen to reward the South American with a new and improved deal, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2024.
The report goes on to say that director of football Victor Orta held two productive meetings with the player’s entourage, former Blues midfielder Deco, before Christmas over a contract extension.
In addition, he is settled in West Yorkshire and he’s planning to marry his partner in the UK after they announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve.
The wide man has scored 14 goals and picked up 10 assists in 48 appearances for his team across all competitions since signing for the club from Rennes in the summer of 2020.
