Liverpool exploring the possibility of signing PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare in winter, as they look to solve their current issues in the middle of the pitch. It’s no secret that the Merseyside giants are likely to be in the market for a midfielder in the near future, whether that be in winter or next summer.
The likes of Milner, Henderson and Thiago are reaching the latter stages of their careers, so signing a midfielder with more longevity will help solve their problems. However, signing footballers in winter often comes at a price, with teams unwilling to sell their crucial figures during the middle of the campaign.
The Reds should be able to add Ibrahim for only £32.3m, but only if they stay patient and wait until next summer. Signing Sangare in winter would cost the Reds significantly more, but if the German boss is desperate to improve his squad at the earliest chance, we could see them paying the premium to bring the midfielder to Liverpool in winter.
Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot have been fantastic during their spell in the side, but their lack of defensive nous and experience has meant the Reds have struggled at times.
Ivory Coast international would offer the Reds a long-term solution that can also slot in and make an immediate impact and after starting the campaign so poorly, they may have to consider a winter move rather than waiting until the end of the campaign.
