Liverpool joined crowded race for 23-year-old Napoli star

Liverpool want to sign Napoli maestro Fabian Ruiz when the transfer window opens next year, according to Calciomercato , via HITC .

The impressive 23-year-old midfielder has gone from strength to strength since leaving Real Betis for the Serie A giants in a £26m deal in the summer of 2018, as reported by Goal .

The cultured, left-footed player produced seven goals and three assists during his debut season in Italian football with Carlo Ancelotti saying was even better than Napoli legend Marek Hamsik.

“He is young and very talented,” Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League as coach three times, told Napoli’s website.

“Compared to Marek he has a different game vision but certainly more penetration.”

Needless to say, the Partenopei would demand a lot more than £26m for Ruiz now with Calciomercato claiming that Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are battling Liverpool for his signature.

A midfielder with two caps for the Spanish national team, Ruiz was also named the Player of the Tournament ahead of Arsenal star Dani Ceballos as La Roja won the Under-21 European Championships in Italy this year.
