Liverpool keen on to sign 21-year-old La Liga forward in January

Villarreal winger Alex Baena is attracting attention from PL giants Liverpool and Man City. U21 Spain international came through the ranks at the Estadio de La Ceramica, making his first team debut in the year 2020. Baena has since played 31 games for the Yellow Submarine, scoring and assisting eight goals apiece.

Alex has taken his game to new heights this campaign and has already found the back of the net six times in the first ten matches. Capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, the versatility adds another dimension to his name. The Spaniard’s current contract at Villarreal runs until 2025, and he has a rather low release clause worth €35m.

The Yellow Submarine are keen to extend the 21-year-old winger’s stay and will be keen to see him sign new terms soon. The Merseyside giants already have the indomitable Luis Diaz in the position. The Colombian winger has more or less made the position his own at Liverpool.

While signing the Spanish forward will give the German coach an impressive backup option, the winger is unlikely to be given the nod over Luis Diaz in the starting XI. However, he could be deployed on the other flank where Salah’s age is beginning to show.

The Egyptian forward appears to have lost a tad of his touch and will need to be phased out in the next few years. Bringing Alex Baena in to educate him about the Reds way of playing should see the teenager set to take on the mantle when the time comes.
