Liverpool-linked teenage midfielder Gavi is supposedly on the verge of penning a new long-term deal at his boyhood club Barcelona.
The 17-year-old Spaniard has made the breakthrough into the Catalan side’s first team this term, featuring on 36 occasions across all competitions, scoring two goals and notching five assists in the process.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the player’s future in recent months, though, as the talented ace’s current deal at the Camp Nou outfit is due to run out in June 2023.
The Reds and their Premier League rivals Manchester City are both said to be prepared to hand Gavi a large salary to transfer to the Premier League.
However, according to a report by 90min, the English top-flight duo have been informed that the highly-rated sensation is set to sign a fresh long-term contract with Blaugrana.
The report also says that his fresh deal will have a buy-out clause of €1bn (£840m), and he’ll become one of the highest-paid prodigies in world football. He has two strikes and five assists in 25 La Liga outings this season, and he featured in the final 16 minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Sevilla.
