Liverpool keeping close tabs with €70m-rated Serie A star

The Merseyside giants are reportedly one of the teams chasing the transfer of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who can leave his current club for the right price. Sergej has been a world-class performer in Serie A down the years, and his fine displays have often seen him become the subject of transfer gossip linking him with bigger teams.

Liverpool and Juventus are now the two main sides being credited with an interest in Serbia international, with Lazio prepared to cash in on their star footballer for €80m. That could end up being a bargain for Milinkovic-Savic, who could be the ideal replacement for Gini Wijnaldum in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

Liverpool are not known for spending huge sums of money, but this might be an opportunity that’s too good to turn down. Sergej has also been linked with PL clubs Man United and Chelsea in the past, though this never materialised.

It’s a surprise he’s stayed with Lazio this long, but maybe the Reds can now lure him to England. Many top footballers have moved to Man United and ended up going backwards, and Kalvin Phillips won’t want to go down the route of the likes of Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez.
