Liverpool renewed interest in 22-year-old African centre-forward

The Merseyside giants are reportedly closing in on the transfer of RB Salzburg centre-forward Patson Daka in an exciting potential move. The deal could be announced soon as the Reds use their good relationship with Salzburg to their advantage to close in on getting the 22-year-old centre-forward into the club.

Liverpool recently dealt with the Austrian side when signing Takumi Minamino, though he’s ended up being a bit of a disappointment. The Reds supporters will hope Patson can be more of a success if he ends up joining, and he certainly looks very promising after scoring 34 goals in 41 matches in all tournaments this campaign.

Of course, Patson is yet to play in a more competitive league, but at the age of 22 he could still improve a great deal, particularly with the benefit of better players around him at Anfield too. Reds could certainly do with a quality signing in attack this summer after the dip in form of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the campaign just gone.

While Shaqiri’s time as the Reds and likely a PL footballer is ready to come to an end, he can look back and reflect fondly, having won the two biggest prizes on offer before departing.
