Liverpool have entered the chase for Samuel Chukwueze as Jurgen Klopp eyes an attacking signing in the summer. Nigeria international, valued at €50m by Villarreal, is a coveted target for other teams, including Arsenal and Aston Villa. The Merseyside giants are expected to enter the market to bolster many crucial positions in their squad.
They are looking for new midfield and defensive signings. But the German manager could also like an attacking reinforcement. On paper, the Reds’ front-line looks fearsome, with top-rated stars like Jota, Nunez, Salah and Firmino featuring prominently.
But Firmino could depart in the summer when his deal expires, and the German manager would like someone to replace him. Hence, they are now linked with Chukwueze from Villarreal. Samuel has performed admirably at the Spanish club, thus drawing the attention of many teams, including Aston Villa and Arsenal.
If the Reds are serious and willing to make an approach, the 23-year-old winger could slot into the team and play in different positions in Jurgen Klopp’s system. Ideally, the Nigerian is a right winger, but the German manager likes to rotate his options, evident by how he has managed Nunez and Jota currently.
Similarly, the Nigerian winger could gain the experience to play differently in a top league. Villarreal would also demand a significant fee for the African winger, with the report suggesting an asking price of €50m. The Reds are not in a position to splash such sums immediately and would inquest into those demands and look to lower the rate.
