Liverpool are considering signing Pyramids star Ibrahim Adel in winter. The January move for Egypt international is being ‘weighed up’ at Merseyside giants. Ibrahim, who plays for Pyramids in his home country, is reportedly being monitored by ‘a host’ of top European teams, including the Reds.
It’s claimed that those teams believe him to be the most exciting Egyptian prospect since a certain Salah. In fact, Salah is said to be so impressed by Adel that he’s told the German manager to sign him. The Reds scouts were already ‘familiar’ with the 21-year-old winger before Salah’s recommendation, though.
They claim that Pyramids would be looking for nearly £5m for the Egyptian winger. But should the Reds make a move, the Egyptian would have to be loaned out. As he wouldn’t be able to come into the first team straight away on account of work permit issues, the African attacker would be a signing for the future.
Adel certainly looks like a prospect. At twenty-one, he’s already broken into the Egyptian national team. As far as comparisons go, it would feel lazy to lump him into the Salah bracket. It would also add unnecessary pressure onto a young player to emulate one of the game’s greats.
In that respect, perhaps a move to the Merseyside giants wouldn’t do Ibrahim much good. It would surely just heighten expectations that he could follow in his legendary countryman’s footsteps.
