Liverpool could reportedly be preparing a bid of nearly €40mfor the transfer of Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips. The 26-year-old midfielder has been a top performer at Elland Road, and also stood out for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 finalists with a series of influential performances at last summer’s big international competition.
It’s clear that Kalvin would be at home at a bigger team than Leeds, and it looks the Reds are making him one of their top targets. Their report claims that Liverpool are prepared to pay around €40m for the midfielder, but Leeds might block the move as they’d prefer to sell Kalvin abroad.
Phillips is said to be tempted by the prospect of moving to Anfield, but he could also be interested in accepting offers from potential suitors such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG.
In truth, although Kalvin is a fine player, Liverpool might be better off leaving this one and continuing with their priority of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Kalvin is also a quality player, but Jude looks to be a level above that and it looks pointless getting into a potentially sticky transfer saga with Leeds United if it’s true that they’d much rather sell their star footballer abroad.
