Man City were interested in signing Mateo back in 2018. But, they failed to get the deal over the line. And, the Blues managed to add Kovacic on loan from Real Madrid. Chelsea then decided to make the deal a permanent one.
After five long years, Man City are once again pushing for the signature of the Croatian midfielder. And, this time they are desperate to land the 28-year-old midfielder at the club ahead of the next campaign. During his time at the London club, he has featured in over 200 games.
In the ongoing campaign, the Croatian has played a total of 23 games. It has been a decent campaign for the midfielder. But, his future at the club looks uncertain. His deal at the club ends in the summer of 2024. However, he might leave Chelsea in a few months’ time.
