Man United have drawn out a three-man shortlist for the right-back position as new boss Erik ten Hag is keen to add reinforcements in that area. Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey is one of the three options that the Red Devils are considering for a summer move.
Man United currently have Dalot and Wan-Bissaka as their two recognised right-backs, but neither of the two has shown enough promise to be entrusted with a regular starting role for the Red Devils. Ghana international is their last resort, with Man United aware that the right-back would cost a lot more than the two other two options.
While Wan-Bissaka has been often found wanting in the offensive department, there are question marks over Dalot’s defensive abilities. Thus, the Red Devils are eager to add a top-class defender to their squad this summer, with Wan-Bissaka also on the transfer list.
According to the source, the three footballers Man United are considering a move for this summer are Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, Barcelona’s Sergino Dest and Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey. Denzel Dumfries is said to be the club’s primary target, with Erik ten Hag eager to get the Dutch defender on board this summer.
Tariq has played 51 games for the PL club since also scoring a goal and providing six assists across all tournaments. But Man United would only make a move for him if they fail in their attempt to sign either Denzel Dumfries or Sergino Dest in the ongoing transfer window.
