Man United eager to sign €35m-rated Eredivisie centre-forward

Man United were linked with several attacking footballers in the summer transfer window but in the end, they just managed to lure Antony from Ajax. If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man United even agreed on personal terms to add Cody Gakpo from PSV.

The Red Devils agreed on a contract with the Netherlands international but they did not make an offer to get his signing done. The news source have revealed that Eredivisie giants continued to increase the asking price for Antony and Erik ten Hag decided to keep Elanga.

Therefore, the club decided against submitting a bid for Cody. PSV were asking for a fee of £53m. Gakpo was absolutely fantastic in the last season and deservedly won the Dutch Footballer of the Year award.

In all tournaments, the 23-year-old forward scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists last term. On the other hand, the Dutch attacker has been fantastic in the current season as well. Thus far, the Dutchman has featured in 12 matches for the Eredivisie giants and directly contributed in 15 goals (9 goals and 6 assists).

Cody has mainly excelled on the left flank and at the moment, the first-choice left winger is big money signing, Sancho, who has been in top form this campaign. The Englishman scored the opening goal of the match with Sheriff last night. On the other hand, the likes of Elanga, Rashford and even Martial can play on the left wing.
