Man United in the battle to sign Leicester City anchorman

Man United and Real Madrid are reportedly both interested in Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The 24-year-old midfielder has been a star performer for Leicester City for several years now, and, if anything, it’s surprising he hasn’t already been snapped up by a bigger club.

The Foxes have often lost star names like N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell to the big six sides, and Wilfred is another who would surely be good enough for the likes of Man United. Citing unspecified reports in the English press, Real Madrid are now also keen on Ndidi, though United’s interest is also mentioned.

Given the poor form of players like Fred this campaign, it makes sense that Man United could be keen on Nigeria international as an upgrade in that position, though he won’t come cheap, with Leicester City likely to ask for around €60m for the midfielder.

One imagines Leicester City would rather sell abroad than to a PL rival, but they’ve shown in the past that they’ll sell to their rivals if the right offer comes along. When asked about Ndidi recently, former Man United midfielder Luke Chadwick said he’s a big fan of the footballer and can imagine his old club will be considering him.
