Manchester United have shown their keen interest in sealing the transfer of Juventus central defender Medhi Benatia in what could be a perfect move to strengthen their defence this January.
The Moroccan star has previously hinted he is in need of more regular game time after falling down the pecking order in Turin, and Manchester United could be the club to pounce for him.
It is suggested Manchester United have made their interest in Medhi known ahead of January, according to an Italian sport newspaper Tuttosport, with translation from Calciomercato.
A solid and experienced centre-half, Benatia could be an ideal short-term fix for Jose Mourinho’s side at the back after their tough start to the campaign.
In spite of some recent improvement, Manchester United look in dire need of upgrades on players like Swedish star Victor Lindelof and Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly in their back four.
The Portuguese coach has rotated a great deal at the back this term to find the right combination, with even midfielders like Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Ander Herrera being given run-outs in that area.
