Man United join race for 20-year-old South American midfielder

Man United and Arsenal transfer target Moises Caicedo is ready to be offered a new deal by current team Brighton. Ecuador international played a bit-part role in the Seagulls’ team last campaign after signing from South American club Independiente del Valle in 2021.

After Bissouma was sold to Tottenham, Moises has been given more of a prominent role in the starting eleven, and his displays have attracted the interest of other teams in the PL. Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are showing an interest in Caicedo.

It’s no surprise to see the likes of Man United and Arsenal linked, with both teams needing a long-term solution to their midfield problems. However, the report claims that the Seagulls are to begin deal talks with the 20-year-old midfielder to attempt to fend off interest from some of the biggest teams in the country.

The Seagulls deserve immense credit for being able to scout the likes of the Ecuadorian midfielder and develop them into PL footballers. Their model is to find young, up-and-coming gems, develop them and either sell them on for significant profit or utilise them in their squad.

As we also saw with Cucurella during the summer window, the Seagulls signed Marc only the campaign before and quickly made a profit on him less than 12 months later. Despite numerous reports suggesting some of the other top PL teams were interested in the Ecuadorian, such as Liverpool, Man United was the only club chasing the player.
