Man United keep a close eye on No.8 Spain international

Man United have reportedly identified Napoli playmaker Fabian Ruiz as a possible transfer target. The Red Devils had a relatively successful summer transfer window, having drafted in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

When you’re signing players of that calibre, the supporters will find it difficult to have any complaints, but Man United failed to bolster in the one area they really needed to, midfield.

Fred and McTominay are quite clearly not good enough as a pairing for the Red Devils to mount a title challenge, and unless that weakness is addressed in winter, it’s unlikely the Norwegian coach will be able to deliver the title. Thankfully for Ole, the Red Devils are now targeting a new midfielder in the shape of Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz.

The report notes that Spain international has emerged as an option for Man United, with Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Franck Kessie also being mentioned, but rather as a replacement for the French star.

If the Red Devils really are shopping around for Paul Pogba replacements, it suggests that their midfield is going to get even weaker before it gets stronger, which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can ill afford if he wants to keep his job.
