Man United keeping tabs with €50m-rated Spanish centre-back

Man United are reportedly obsessed with a transfer swoop for Villarreal defender Pau Torres. The 24-year-old defender has shone in La Liga and seems like a top centre-back who could soon shine at a bigger club.

The Red Devils have clearly identified Pau as a priority target, which makes sense given their need for an upgrade on unconvincing performers like Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly. Man United, however, don’t seem particularly close to any kind of agreement with the Yellow Submarine.

They claim that there is also no agreement with Torres himself, with those close to him denying claims to the contrary, according to the report. It will be interesting to see how this saga develops, but the Red Devils will no doubt hope they can make some progress on a deal for the Spanish defender at some point in the future.

If not, there are other fine defenders out there, with report also recently linking them with the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Jules Kounde as well.

Cavani scored the eventual game-winning goal to break the 1-1 tie between Man United and Tottenham Hotspur. It will be interesting to see whether the centre-forward decides to say thanks, but no thanks to one of the biggest teams in South America to remain at Old Trafford for another campaign.
