Manchester United will battle Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus and Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea for AC Milan captain and key defender Alessio Romagnoli, according to recent reports in Italy.
A football news website Calciomercato.com claim the Red Devils are among the sides ‘observing’ Italy international ahead of a summer transfer offer.
Alessio was made captain at the club in the summer window after Leonardo Bonucci left for league rivals Juventus. The 24-year-old star has been pivotal to Rossoneri’s top four bid, but coach Gennaro Gattus as saying the Italian star ‘doesn’t have a price’.
Manchester United are in the transfer market for a central defender, and Alessio’s leadership qualities would undoubtedly fit the brief for the type of centre-back they are trying to attract.
However, the report goes on to claim that the defender has turned down moves away from AC Milan before, and would be ready to do the same again.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils continue to be connected with Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic. A Spanish press outlet Marca say Manchester United want to capitalise on Ivan’s ambiguous future at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona purchased Ajax central midfielder Frenkie De Jong in January market, and may plan to offload a midfielder in next window to ease their congested midfield ranks and regain some of the money spent on Frenkie.
However, Ivan Rakitic is also quoted by the newspaper as saying he has no plans to depart from the Catalan heavyweights, saying:
“I want to stay here. I’m flattered that big clubs ask about me, if they do, but I only see myself at Barca. I laugh a little bit in the morning with my coffee when I see [the stories] about my future.”
The Premier League giants Manchester United are preparing to submit a “tempting offer” for Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic in the summer transfer market, according to the latest report in Spain.
A Spanish daily sports outlet Mundo Deportivo, as cited by a British outlet The Sun, is reporting that Old Trafford outfit are interested in a potential move to sign the Croatia international Rakitic.
The same article claims that the 30-year-old star’s future at Blaugrana is in doubt after the Spanish club signed promising Netherlands international Frenkie de Jong from Dutch top flight Eredivisie club Ajax earlier this season.
The Dutch midfielder will link up with his new Blaugrana team-mates in the summer transfer window when the 21-year-old star will battle it out with the former Sevilla and Schalke player for a first-team place.
According to the same story, the Red Devils could face heavy competition from three other sides for the World Cup finalist’s signature at the end of the campaign.
The Lilywhites seemed less than convincing at Burnley as they conceded a late English defender Ashley Barnes goal, but the club will be pleased to have key man Harry Kane back in their ranks.
Interestingly, it emerges as if the North London giants are eyeing a potential raid, as according to an Italian sport newspaper Tuttosport, Spurs are in the race to land Tanguy Ndombele.
Indeed, it’s understood that Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all in the hunt sign the star, while Paris Saint-Germain have been following the Frenchman but most of the attention goes to Serie A giants Juventus.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side still haven’t found a suitable replacement for Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele, so perhaps the Lyon prized asset could be the man to fill the void left by Mousa.
There have been no talks of a potential price that the club may have to pay for him, but the star will no doubt attract a huge fee with a number of sides in for him and the potential to become a superstar.
The 22-year-old midfielder has even been compared to Manchester United’s key man Paul Pogba by Lyon manager Bruno Genesio, according to an Italian outlet as he stated this:
“I do not like comparisons, but indeed, Ndombele can be a new Pogba. He is strong physically and above all technically.”
“Tanguy with the first touch manages to jump even three players and when he starts dribbling he is difficult to stop. He can play in any position in the midfield.”
