Man United news round-up: Red Devils on alert, Pereira – Milenkovic swap deal, club handed another chance

Man United on alert as Liverpool urged to land International No.3 defender

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has advised Jurgen Klopp to replace Croatian star Dejan Lovren with ‘powerhouse defender’ Kalidou Koulibaly this January window.

Joe Gomez impressed alongside Dutch star Virgil van Dijk at the start of the campaign, but the young England centre-half has been out of action since the beginning of last month with an ankle fracture.

Aldridge believes Reds must look to bring in a replacement for the Croatian star and has suggested that Napoli key man Koulibaly could be the answer.

Koulibaly has been strongly linked with a £90 million move to Old Trafford in the latest weeks. Speaking to the Irish Independent, one-time Liverpool striker Aldridge said:

‘Dejan Lovren was a weak link in the defence once again as Jurgen Klopp’s men lost their first Premier League game of the season at Manchester City and I suspect the Croatian will need to be replaced sooner rather than later if this team are to turn potential into success.’

‘We have seen the impact made by Virgil van Dijk since his £75m arrival last January, and I wonder whether a move for a powerhouse defender like Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly could give Klopp’s side the bit they need at the back.’

Man United ready to sacrifice talented midfielder for 6ft 4in Serie A prodigy

Manchester United have reportedly made a decision that they are prepared to part company with Andreas Pereira in order to sign Fiorentina central defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to the latest reports from Italy.

United have been keen to land a new centre-back since the summer window, and Milenkovic is one of a host of players who have been pinpointed as a potential signing in the past six months.

Reports have suggested that Manchester United may wait until the end of the season to push on with their search for new signings but according to La Nazione, the Red Devils are trying to find a way to land Nikola Milenkovic.

The report states that Pereira could depart from Old Trafford for the Serie A side having been restricted to just 281 minutes of football in the English top flight and Champions League this campaign.

The Brazilian star has just six months remaining on his current contract, and it has been suggested that Manchester United are prepared to loan the midfielder to Fiorentina in a bid to improve their chances of landing Milenkovic.

European giants open to selling €100,000-a-week key forward to Man United

Serie A giants Inter Milan are willing to open negotiations with Manchester United over a deal for forward, Ivan Perisic, according to a report.

The Red Devils wanted to land the Croatia international the previous summer transfer market, only for his valuation to hugely increase on the back of a stellar World Cup.

Manchester United are believed to still retain a strong interest in Perisic, despite Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho being replaced by Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month, and a transfer could still go through later this year.

An Italian sport newspaper Tuttosport states that Inter are keen to bring in a host of new faces at the end of the campaign, with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric among their targets, and they are therefore ready to sell Perisic to help finance their summer splurge.

The 29-year-old technically gifted winger, who has three goals and two assists in Serie A this campaign, is understood to be rated at £45 million.

Nerazzurri signed Ivan Perisic from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window of 2015 for a reported €19 million fee.
