Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer’s Manchester United are reportedly among the teams eyeing a transfer move for French club LOSC Lille forward Nicolas Pepe this summer transfer window, according to a report.
A French football programme Telefoot lists a host of clubs chasing the in-form Ivory Coast international Pepe, who they claim would cost around £69.5 million (€80 million) in the next transfer market.
The source claim Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are among Nicolas’ suitors from the English top flight, which, it is also stated, would be his preferred next destination.
Still, the piece also adds Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are among the 23-year-old star’s admirers after his impressive form in Ligue 1 this campaign.
The Red Devils could certainly do with paying big for a player like Nicolas for next campaign after the struggles of Chile international Alexis Sanchez since he joined from the Gunners the previous January in a pointless swap deal.
The South American star has been a big disappointment and will certainly be offloaded by Old Trafford outfit as soon as the club can manage it, with Nicolas looking a player who’d be a huge improvement in that zone of the pitch.
Skilful, quick, and with an eye for goal from up front or out wide, Pepe seems perfect for an elite club after showing he undoubtedly has a great career ahead of him.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are also targeting another Ligue 1 talent, French club Lyon’s one of the most valuable assets, Tanguy Ndombele.
