Fiorentina have informed Manchester United there is zero chance Serbian star Nikola Milenkovic will be sold in the January transfer market, according to reports.
The Red Devils were plotting to make an offer for the defender this month, which might have included creative midfielder Andreas Pereira as part of the deal.
Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Nikola for several months as the central defender can play at centre-half or full-back.
But the Mirror state Fiorentina will turn down any and all offers for Nikola Milenkovic. However, the Italian club are open to bids in the summer market and have set an asking price of £50 million.
At just 21, Nikola Milenkovic is being earmarked as a possible successor to the 33-year-old Ashley Young or the solution to Manchester United’s centre-back problems.
The Red Devils are unlikely to make any big signings in January but are prepared to spend money if the right player becomes available.
It is still not clear who will be at the helm for Manchester United come the end of the campaign, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in temporary charge as caretaker coach.
The club want Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new coach, but Solskjaer hopes to stake his claim for the job throughout his tenure.
