Man Utd eyeing move for 28-year-old star

Manchester United have declared their interest in landing Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, according to the latest reports.

The German star has established himself as an important part of the Blues’ defence, especially after Thomas Tuchel replaced club icon, Frank Lampard, as a manager in January.

But the 28-year-old defender is out of contract at the end of the term and could leave West London on a free transfer if he fails to agree a fresh deal.

The German coach is keen for Antonio to extend his stay with the club but the player has attracted interest from multiple clubs across Europe.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils are among the Premier League sides who have expressed their interest along with Tottenham Hotspur.

But the report states that if Rudiger decides to move, Antonio would prefer to leave England altogether rather than sign for one of Chelsea’s rivals.

Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race to sign the star as they have held talks with the player’s brother and entourage Sahr Senesie.

The report adds that an ‘informal agreement’ was reached with his representative and Los Blancos following talks in November but a contract has not been penned.
