Man Utd on the verge to agree deal for Argentine attacker

Manchester United have held discussions over the prospect of landing the Argentine midfield talent Enzo Fernandez, it has been reported.

The 21-year-old player has been emerging as a big talent in his homeland while plying his trade at one of the biggest clubs in River Plate.

His showings have also piqued the interest of teams across the pond and multiple major European clubs are thinking about taking the youngster to one of the top divisions in Europe.

Manchester City are keen on Fernandez but it has emerged that the Citizens face stern competition for the prodigy’s signature.

According to Argentine TV channel TYC Sports, the Red Devils and Real Madrid have been keeping a close eye on Fernandez’s development ahead of the end of the term.

Both outfits have held negotiations over potentially landing Enzo’s services but are yet to submit any formal offers.

A scout from Old Trafford was recently in South America to watch the midfielder in action as interest in him firms up.

He has a €20 million buy-out clause, which will rise to €25 million after a certain period of time in the next few days.

The 21-year-old has represented his nation in youth football but is yet to make his debut for the Argentina senior team.
