Manchester United have handed massive blow n their pursuit of Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon.
The Red Devils are keen on to sign Regulon on permanent basis while the Los Blancos are only ready to listen loan offers.
Reguilon has shined in La Liga for Sevilla, which achieved a top-four finish and a sixth Europa League titles in the 2019-20 campaign, playing 38 games in total while being on loan at Julen Lopetegui’s team.
The Spaniard is now back at Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the new season, however, with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo at the left-back position it is understood that Real Madrid will loan him for another year and after the departure for Brazilian defender he will become a part of Zidane’s squad.
Sport reports that while Real head-coach Zinedine Zidane is happy to part ways with the left-back, however, will listen only loan offers.
The report comes as a blow to United who were ready to pay £27m for the 23-year-old defender who has been considered as an upgrade to Luke Shaw who has had a mixed season at Old Trafford.
Reguilon’s current contract at Santiago Bernabeu will run until the end of the 2022-23 season.
