Arsenal’s hopes of re-signing Oguzhan Ozyakup have been dealt a huge blow as Turkish giants Besiktas backed midfielder to extend the contract.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been linked with a return to the North London Giants after five years. However, it seems unlikely with Turkish giants keen on to tie down him with a new deal.
The midfielder has spent four years in North London, however, after making only two League Cup appearances was allowed to sign for Besiktas back in 2012.
He’s since has been one of the most outstanding players in the Super Lig and it helped him to earn 25 caps with the Turkish national team.
The fine form of midfielder has seen him linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium in the recent months.
However, Besiktas chief Fikret Orman says that the club will offer him a new deal and expect to keep midfielder with Turkish giants for a long time.
‘There are many stories about Oguzhan’s possible transfer to Europe. But we did not receive such an offer,’ he told Mackolik Radyo
‘Oguzhan’s contract will be extended. We only need to add the signatures. It will be for another five years.
