Ligue 1 outfits, Rennes have reportedly told Premier League giants, Chelsea that it will take a bid of at least £30m in order to secure services of Edouard Mendy ahead of the next campaign.
Frank Lampard’s side have identified the Senegal international stopper as a possible replacement for under-fire goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who ended last campaign with the worst save percentage in the English top-tier while the Blues had worst defensive record in the top four.
Kepa is expected to remain at the club regardless of whether the Blues secure services of a new stopper, however, Frank Lampard is still eager to bring in someone to challenge former Athletic Bilbao stopper.
Chelsea are believed to have seen two offers turned down for Mendy already, and The Telegraph claims that they have to pay £30m in order to lure him away from Rennes.
The Blues have already spent more than any other Premier League team ahead of the next season, securing the services of Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Timo Werner,
The most expensive of those deals has been Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen who cost the Blues around £71m.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper has kept 13 clean sheets in 34 games for Rennes since making a switch to the Ligue 1 outfit last year.
