Celtic are hoping to land central midfielder Pedro Chirivella from Liverpool on a permanent deal, according to Goal’s Neil Jones.
Liverpool had accepted an offer from Rosenborg last week but the Spanish star rejected the move, and as such, Celtic are planning to swoop in.
Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers knows the 21-year-old star very well as he was the coach who gave Chirivella his professional debut when he brought Spaniard on in the Europa League group match against Bordeaux back in September 2015.
Since then, Pedro Chirivella has hardly featured at all for the Reds, and it appears that his time at Anfield is coming to an end after Liverpool were happy to let him leave to sign for Rosenborg.
The Norwegians’ accepted offer was worth around £3.5 million, so it’s fair to suggest that Liverpool will be looking for a similar sum from Celtic.
However, at the time of the failed move to Troillongan, it was reported that Pedro Chirivella wanted to stay in England or move to Spain.
So, it remains to be seen if the 21-year-old star would be willing make a move to Scotland, although the prospect of playing under Brendan again does reportedly appeal to the Spaniard.
