Serie A club Lazio are continuing to keep a close eye on Arsenal star Lucas Torreira and could compete with the Argentine outfit Boca Juniors for the midfielder this summer.
The 25-year-old signed for Spanish side Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan at the start of the 2020/21 term after falling down the midfield pecking order at the Emirates.
However, Lucas has struggled to impress Diego Simeone and is set to return to the Gunners when his loan contract with Los Rojiblancos comes to an end.
The Uruguay international has a deal with the Gunners until 2023 but has allegedly expressed his desire to leave the club for Azul y Oro this summer.
Though Torreira wants to ply his trade for Boca Juniors, a return to Serie A could potentially be on the cards for the ex-Sampdoria midfielder, with I Biancocelesti said to be interested.
According to Italian outlet Il Messaggero, the club have continued to keep tabs on Torreira after emerging as potential buyers for the midfielder in January.
While he has openly expressed his desire to play for the South American club, Lazio could make a move for him when the summer transfer market opens.
It is said that the Rome-based side could look to snap up Torreira on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for a sum below €20 million.
