Roma will allegedly reignite their interest in Arsenal star Granit Xhaka during this summer’s transfer market.
The Italian outfit were strongly linked with the 29-year-old midfielder last summer, but the Swiss remained at the Emirates Stadium outfit and penned a new deal until June 2024.
Granit has missed 10 Premier League matches this season because of a mixture of injury and suspension, but he has been a key player for the Gunners when available for selection.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, I Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho is still poised to bring him to the club this year.
The report states that Xhaka is the ‘first name’ on the Portuguese tactician’s shortlist of summer targets, although it is unclear whether Mikel Arteta’s side’s valuation of the player is still £17 million.
He has scored 13 goals and picked up 21 assists in 232 appearances for his team since arriving from Borussia Monchengladbach six years ago.
In other news, Arsenal are allegedly keen to pay any sum for Fiorentina’s attacking sensation Dusan Vlahovic in instalments if the club can convince the ace to move to London.
According to The Independent, the Gunners’ preference is to spread any payment over 4 years, rather than pay in the region of £62.5 million up front.
The report adds that La Viola would prefer most of the sum straightaway, presenting the possibility of a major stumbling block in talks.
