The Italian heavyweights AC Milan have reportedly entered discussions with the agent of Liga NOS outfit FC Porto central midfielder Hector Herrera over a summer transfer, according to the latest reports from Italy.

The 28-year-old star is also rumoured to have drawn interest from Arsenal as a replacement for Welsh star Aaron Ramsey, who will depart from the Emirates Stadium at the end of the campaign.

Like Aaron, Herrera will also be available on a Bosman as the star has been allowed to run down his current contract at the Estadio do Dragao.

According to an Italian TV program Sport Mediaset, AC Milan have moved to the front of the queue to land the Mexico international as negotiations are underway between the club and entourage Gabriel Moraes.

Hector Herrera, used 31 times in all competitions this campaign, is also said to be on AS Roma’s radar ahead of the reopening of the transfer market in four months’ time.

The Portuguese club signed Hector Herrera from the Mexican side Pachuca in the summer transfer market of 2013 for an undisclosed fee thought to be €11 million.

This season, in all competitions (Liga NOS, Allianz Cup, Champions League, Taça de Portugal Placard, Supertaça), the Mexican midfielder has made 35 appearances, netted 4 goals and provided one assist for the Dragons thus far.
