Manchester United’s league rivals Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly pinpointed Sampdoria central defender Joachim Andersen as a possible replacement for Belgian star Toby Alderweireld, according to recent reports.
Spurs’ hierarchy are looking for defensive cover after activating an option in Toby Alderweireld’s contract which extends his stay at the club by another 12 months but also lowers his exit clause to just £25 million this summer.
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have been connected with moves for the Belgian star, and with no sign of new terms being agreed as things stand, Tottenham Hotspur are considering their variants.
A British online newspaper The Independent reports that Joachim Andersen is at the top of their wishlist of targets to replace Alderweireld, with the 22-year-old star having impressed with his displays for club and country of late.
Manchester United have also been touted with an interest in the Danish centre-back before, but are expected to pursue other options over the next two transfer markets.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are hopeful that Joachim Andersen will be available for around £35 million this summer transfer window.
