Watzke thinks long-term Liverpool target will join Bundesliga giants

Borussia Dortmund’s chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has dropped a huge hint that Liverpool target Timo Werner could be on his way to Niko Kovac’s Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, along with both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have been heavily connected with a move to Werner, who looks set to depart from RB Leipzig in the near future.

When quizzed on the forward’s future and a possible bid from die Borussen, Watzke gave a cryptic answer, as reported by football news outlet Goal’s Ronan Murphy:

“I know at least eighty players who would suit us well, but at least I have the impression that one of the two players has already settled his future- and not with us.”

The German forward is yet to commit to a new deal with the Bundesliga outfit and has been informed that he will be sold if he does not put pen to paper.

Timo will not be short of suitors after proving himself as one of the top strikers in his native Germany in recent years. Die Roten are particularly keen as they go in search of a long-term heir for the ageing Robert Lewandowski.

They have agreed on a deal to land France international Benjamin Pavard and are looking to secure the services of Premier League giants Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi in a £35m deal.
