Deal Close: 17-goal Striker Peres on the Brink to Become Wengers Fourth Summer Signing

According to the Spanis outlet El Confidencial La Liga club Deportivo centre-forward, Lucas Perez is closing in on Arsenal £17million deal after Arsene Wenger’s side have hijacked Everton’s move for Spaniard.

Arsenal have failed to complete the signing of Jamie Vardy, Alexandre Lacazzette and Gonzalo Higuain in the summer transfer window so far.

Wenger has come under huge pressure from the Gunners supporters in the last fortnight to spend after the club’s disappointed start of the 2016/17 season.

The 27-year-old star is yet to earn a cap for Spain but Merseyside Blues were desperate to lure Perez at Goodison Park, while, defending Premier League champions Leicester have been also in the market for his signature.

However, according to El Confidencial in Spain, Arsenal have made a late swoop and are ready to meet the striker’s £17m release clause.

The 27-year-old forward has had his best season last term in La Liga, scoring 17 times in 36 appearances for Deportivo La Coruna.

The Spanish forward was thought to be on his way to Everton but Arsenal’s ability to offer him Champions League football appears to have sealed the deal and player will join Gunners in the coming days.
